A funeral for Shanann Watts and her two daughters will be held next week in Pinehurst, according to an obituary.

Watts’ husband, Chris Watts is facing three charges of first-degree murder, two counts of killing a child under 12, one count of unlawful termination of a pregnancy and three counts of tampering with a deceased body in connection with the deaths of his pregnant wife and two children.

The body of Shanann Watts, who was pregnant with a boy, was located earlier this month on the property of one of Colorado's largest oil and gas drillers where her husband used to work.

According to an obituary, Shanann Watts had named the unborn baby boy Nico Lee before her death.

The bodies of 4-year-old Bella Watts and 3-year-old Celeste Watts were located inside an oil well on the property, authorities said.

Court documents show Christopher Watts told police that Shanann Watts strangled their two daughters after he told her he wanted to separate.

Christopher Watts told police that he flew into a rage and strangled his wife, took the three bodies to a remote oil site north of Denver, buried Shanann in a shallow grave and dumped the girls' bodies inside oil tanks.

The funeral for the family will be held Sept. 1 at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Pinehurst. A livestream of the service will be made available on the Boles Funeral Homes and Crematory Facebook page.

Shanann Watts grew up in Aberdeen and had visited family and friends still living in North Carolina just weeks before her death. She attended Pinecrest High School in Southern Pines and married Christopher Watts, a Fayetteville native, in Charlotte in 2012.

Family members ask that, in lieu of flowers, people honor the memory of Shanann Watts and her daughters with a donation to the Lupus Foundation of America, the Frederick Colorado Police Department’s Missing Persons Division or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
