Free online National Park Service Junior Ranger books

The National Park Service has a number of free Junior Ranger books available to download.

Topics include Cave Scientist, Night Skies Explorer, Spaceflight Explorer, Paleontologist, Archeologist and more.

Although Secretary of the Interior David Bernhardt directed the National Park Service (NPS) to temporarily suspend the collection of all park entrance fees until further notice, many parks have closed including their facilities.

In addition, there has been growing concern about encouraging people to all go to the parks that are still open when we should be practicing social distancing.

According to an article from apnews.com, "Making parks free will lead to overcrowding and put staffers and visitors at greater risk of being exposed to the virus, according to a group representing park service employees."

In the article, Phil Francis, chairman of the Coalition to Protect America’s National Parks says, “It is irresponsible to urge people to visit national park sites when gathering at other public spaces is no longer considered safe.”
