Found safe: Amber Alert canceled for 8-year-old girl in Duplin County

An Amber Alert was canceled Wednesday for an 8-year-old girl who went missing from Duplin County.

The Amber Alert was canceled for Callie Holloman several hours after it was issued.

The Duplin County Sheriff's Office said the girl was taken Tuesday night around 7:30 p.m. by her mother, Ronda Layton Holloman, after the girl's father was granted temporary legal and physical custody.

According to deputies, Ronda Holloman arrived at the father's home with her boyfriend in a 2016 Dodge Ram pickup truck. After a verbal argument, deputies said Ronda Holloman took her daughter.

Deputies said the girl was found safe but shared no additional information.
