Dump Pho King Truck worked to serve up dumplings and more to customers during Brewgaloo on April 26, 2014.

A couple weeks ago, Dump Pho King Truck announced on social media, they would be off the road for an extended time. After the announcement, worried fans quickly took on to social media on the sudden news. Shortly after, a name change to Pho Nomenal Dumpling and a photo with completely black truck with the new name in pink.

Over the weekend, Food Network chef Tyler Florence announced on Twitter that the Great Food Truck Race began in Santa Monica and would be heading to Lake Havasu. One of the trucks listed to compete was the Triangle’s own Pho Nomenal Dumpling! Based on the social media activity going on in Lake Havasu, six other trucks from Southern California, New York City, Arizona and Dallas are in the race. Per a prior casting call, Great Food Truck Race fans will notice Season 6 returns to the Season 1 and 2 formats using current food truck owners opposed to prospective owners.

Havasu News, the local news in Lake Havasu City, reported that this year’s competition would follow the Old Route 66 from Los Angeles to Chicago. Timing of the city’s selection seemed ideal based on that weekend’s Bassmasters Elite fishing tournament.

The winning food truck will win a grand prize of $50,000.
