Five members of the 2021-2022 Duke Blue Devils basketball team received invitations to the 2022 NBA Draft Combine, the league announced Wednesday.
Paolo Banchero, AJ Griffin, Trevor Keels, Wendell Moore Jr. and Mark Williams are listed among the 76 players expected to attend the combine from May 18-20 at Wintrust Arena and Marriott Marquis in Chicago.
NC State had two players invited to this year’s combine: guards Dereon Seabron and Terquavion Smith.
No one from the current North Carolina Tar Heels roster got an invite.
Players have until June 1 to decide if they will remain in the draft or return to the NCAA. However, if college players want to maintain their NCAA eligibility, they cannot hire an agent who isn’t certified by the NCAA.
The combine serves as a way for teams and their scouts to evaluate potential NBA rookies ahead of the 2022 NBA Draft, which is set for June 23 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
At the combine, players will participate in interviews with teams and undergo several shooting, strength and agility drills. There are also five-on-five games.
Duke had the most players invited to the 2022 NBA Combine, leading Gonzaga (four) and Arizona (three).
In each of the last 11 NBA drafts, Duke has had at least one player selected.
Ahead of the 2022 draft, retired Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski has coached 68 players selected in the NBA Draft. The 28 lottery picks that have come from Duke during his tenure are more than any team or coach in college basketball history.
