For the third time in its three-year history, Cuthbertson is the No. 1 team in the final HighSchoolOT girls indoor track & field rankings.

The Cavaliers, who won their seventh straight N.C. High School Athletic Association title, were the 4A champions this year.

The rankings are based on numbers taken from the N.C. High School Athletic Association championships and the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association invitational, which functions as the unofficial championship. HSOT uses championship times across all classifications and associations and combines them into one big state meet to calculate the final rankings.

In some events, there were ties across different classifications. In order to determine the points, the tiebreaker was podium placement (a 1A champ got the spot over a second-place 4A athlete in the same event). If the athletes were still tied, they split the points.

For the final rankings, if two teams were tied for a top-25 spot, the tiebreaker was whichever team had the higher finish at their respective state championship.
