Fentanyl, meth, cocaine seized in western NC, largest drug bust in county's history

Deputies in western North Carolina arrested five people in what they called "the largest fentanyl seizure in the history of Buncombe County."

The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office on Oct. 11 obtained three search warrants and seized 5.03 pounds of fentanyl -- which the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) equates to more than 1.141 million lethal doses (a 2 mg dose of fentanyl can be lethal, according to the DEA).

The search warrants also yielded the following:

  • Methamphetamine 667.1 grams (1.47 pounds)
  • Heroin (black tar) 977.5 grams (2.15 pounds)
  • Miscellaneous pills (approximately 2500)
  • Cocaine 31.6 grams
  • Suboxone 88 Dosage Units
  • Taurus Semi-Automatic Handgun
  • Numerous cellular devices
  • Numerous drug paraphernalia

The searches were conducted at two apartments on Eastview Circle and Hendersonville Road and a storage facility on Sardis Road.

Five people face a total of 59 criminal charges from the large-scale drug trafficking operation, a multi-agency operation involving the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office, Haywood County Sheriff’s Office, Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives (ATF), NC Probation and Parole, Asheville Police Department and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI).

Shabazz Nygel Tucker, Sophia Hope Ridener, Sequoyah Lashay Burt, Terry Anthony Graham Jr., and Keiana Taliyah Webber all face numerous drug-related charges, including trafficking fentanyl, trafficking heroin, trafficking cocaine and trafficking methamphetamine.
