"Bria Berry-Holly is a three-year starter, a two-time all-conference performer!" beamed former WRAL-TV Sports anchor Tom Suiter back in 2011.

"It's so nice to see everyone's face and how young we look!" laughed former Extra Effort Award winner Bria Berry-Holly.

"I like to win. I know that I have to lead my team, and if they see what I'm doing then that will motivate them to do better and we'll play as one," Berry-Holly said back on that day in 2011.

"Looking back at Coach Hebert, who is no longer with us and also Ms. Williams, my chorus teacher, those are just a couple of examples of the support system that I had and they gave me the ability to be free and to express my leadership," Berry-Holly said.

Bria Berry-Holly pin-pointed the perfect career path for those pair of traits. She's the proud owner of a Business degree from UNCG and an MBA from NCCU.

"I like to dabble in a lot of things and business was just an arena and such a platform where I could do anything that I wanted to do," Berry-Holly explains.

Now, working as an associate at a local market research firm, Vivisum Partners LLC, where Bria gets the scoop on healthcare, finance, tech, etc.

"I can take some of that knowledge and pass it on to people in a positive way," smiles Berry-Holly.

That's who Bria remains at her core: a good-natured go-getter. A JV basketball coach, a member of the Board of Directors for Step-Up Durham, a non-profit agency providing crucial employment and life skills.

"One of my goals in life is to make a positive impact, big or small, whatever capacity and everyday I know I'm part of something bigger," nods Berry-Holly.

A leader through-and-through from that day in 2011 until the present, it's why we remain proud to call Bria Berry-Holly a winner, of the Tom Suiter Extra Effort Award.
