Units from the Fayetteville Fire Department, including the hazardous materials team, were dispatched to a gas leak in Fayetteville Wednesday morning.
According to the fire department, the gas leak happened around 10:36 a.m. on the 500 block of Anona Drive when a construction struck a line.
Seven residents were evacuated by the fire department as a precaution and the Fayetteville Hazmat team stopped the leak around 12:40 p.m.
Piedmont Natural Gas was notified and responded to assist and assess necessary repairs.
All residents have returned to their homes.
