Durham police investigating homicide on US 70

Durham police are investigating a homicide after a man was found dead in the back of a vehicle Saturday night on U.S. Highway 70.

Officers were dispatched to a shooting call at 11:27 p.m. and, upon arrival, found Kenneth Mitchell III, 19, of Durham in the back of a car on U.S. 70 near Miami Boulevard.

The westbound lanes of U.S. 70 were closed for several hours while police investigated.

No further information was immediately available.
