A man has been arrested in connection with the disappearance of Shawn Burton, 44, a Durham father of six who has been missing since late March.

Darrius Tyson, 30, of Durham, was taken into custody on May 3 and charged with first-degree kidnapping and conspiracy to commit murder in connection with Burton's disappearance.

Tyson is being held in the Durham County Detention Center under a $2 million secured bond. Police said Burton is still missing.

Burton's wife, who did not want to give her name, told WRAL News she believed her husband was abducted. She described her husband as loving and said he has no enemies.

"I can’t even explain it. I’m just holding up as much as I can for my kids. We have three small kids," she said.

The woman said she has been with Burton for 14 years. His children are all under the age of 10.

Burton left his home in March to work at Club 919 but never made it there, his wife said.

"He left the house at night and said that he was going to the club to promote an event that he had coming up," his wife said. "That was the last time I saw him."
