The viral exhibition baseball team The Savannah Bananas will be making a stop to play at Durham Bulls Athletic Park July 14.
This game is part of their 2023 Banana Ball World Tour. The team announced the visit, along with more than 30 other stops, during a live stream "draft pick" event Tuesday.
Durham was chosen as the 3rd pick during the 6th round. The Durham Bulls are currently coming off their 4th AAA-Championship Title.
The Kannapolis Cannon Ballers were another North Carolina team chosen to host The Bananas
The Bananas, during the tour, will be playing all games under their "Banana Ball" rules which include:
- A 2-hour time limit on games.
- No bunting.
- Batters are not allowed to step out of the batters box.
- No mound visits are allowed.
- Walks are now called sprints.
- Foul balls caught by fans are counted as outs.
The Bananas are known for their performative exhibitions, not unlike The Harlem Globetrotters, and many of their videos have gone viral. CNN dubbed the team "TikTok's favorite baseball team"
The team is also the subject of a five-part ESPN+ Original series, Bananaland
