Village District Job Fair to fill dozens of positions

The Village District, formerly Cameron Village, is holding a job fair on Wednesday in a welcome sight for people still looking for work amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dozens of businesses from restaurants, wine shops, furniture stores and clothing boutiques are immediately hiring for part-time and full-time retail, service and kitchen positions.

It's a big development for the shopping center which underwent a rebranding earlier this year. A Barnes & Noble is expected to come to the shopping center soon. Village District lost several businesses such as K&W Cafeteria, Palm Avenue and SLT Raleigh during the pandemic.

Job seekers should bring an updated resume or fill out an application at the event, which lasts from 4 to 6 p.m. at the District.

Employers will host tables with balloons out on the sidewalks. Some merchants who will be hiring include:

● Bailey’s Fine Jewelry

● Bassett Furniture

● CHOPT

● fab’rik

● FIFIS Consignment Boutique

● Flying Biscuit

● Francesca’s

● haircolorxperts

● Johnson-Lambe Co.

● Light Years Jewelry

● Maidson

● Medlin-Davis Cleaners

● MyEyeDr.

● Nest

● Onward Reserve

● Opulance of Southern Pines & Duxiana

● Rise Biscuits & Donuts

● Uniquities

● winestore.

There are just under 100 positions that are open. Some businesses, such as restaurants, are having trouble finding employees to fill spots. The North Carolina Restaurant and Lodging Association told WRAL News that many restaurants in the state are experiencing the same thing.
