Stone's Education Superstore made its big move from Tryon Road to N.C. 54 in Cary last week. The store reopened last Saturday afternoon just in time for holiday shopping.

Stone's, which opened in Raleigh in the 1940s and called Tryon Road home for 42 years, has long been a destination for Triangle teachers and parents looking for educational material, games and activities.

But the move into a bigger space also has allowed owners Carol and David Madison to expand their toy selection. The store now offers lots of Playmobil, Melissa & Doug, Plasma cars, Bruder trucks and much more. Read last week's post about the store and new product lines.

The Madisons designed the space with families in mind. For kids, there's a book nook where they can cuddle up with a stuffed animal and read . There's also a Playmobil table for toddlers and preschoolers to play with. Demonstration toys are scattered throughout the store. There's even a table with a whiteboard top where teachers can make notes or kids can just draw.

"This is definitely a hands-on store," Carol Madison tells me.

She also wants long-time Stone's fans to know that their favorites are still there, just in a bigger, more open building.

"We haven't changed that area at all," she said of the school supply side.

Watch my video interview with Carol Madison and check the store's website and Facebook page to learn more about the store. They'll be open Black Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The store, 210 Hampton Woods Lane, is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m., Sunday.
