Deputies: Wilson man arrested, charged with sex crimes against children

Martinez, 56, of Wilson, was arrested and charged with multiple sex crimes against children.

Authorities arrested a Wilson man Tuesday they say committed sex crimes against two children.

According to the Nash County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received two reports of sexual abuse involving children and the agency’s special victims unit began a detailed investigation.

Authorities developed a suspect after the Children’s Advocacy Center of Rocky Mount conducted interviews with the victims.

Authorities identified Jorge Martinez of Wilson as the suspect and obtained warrants for two counts of first-degree statutory sex offense and two counts of indecent liberties with children.

The Nash County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office, arrested Martinez and gave him a $500,000 bond.

Authorities are holding Martinez at the Nash County Detention Center.
