Health experts warn of urgent need for blood donations

A high schooler in Cumberland, Bladen, Harnett or Hoke counties could win a free car by donating blood.
Powers Swain Chevrolet of Fayetteville is giving away a Chevy Spark to a high schooler that gives blood before July 26.
The winner must be enrolled in a public, private or virtual school, or must be homeschooled.
The winner will be picked on Monday, July 26.
Powers Swain Chevrolet is hosting a blood drive on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 4709 Bragg Boulevard.
Students who can't attend the blood drive can donate at the Blood Donor Center or other mobile blood drives in the area.
A press release from Cape Fear Valley Health said the center is "continually in need of volunteer donors, especially in the summer months."
