Crews search for 70-year-old boater near Rocky Mount

Crews are searching for 70-year-old Larry Drake of Rocky Mount, who left home Wednesday for a fishing trip and didn't return.

According to police, officers at 5 p.m. found an unoccupied boat anchored near a small island in the Rocky Mount Reservoir.

Family members said Drake left his home at 10 a.m. on Wednesday but had not been heard from since.

There are no signs of foul play, police said.

Eight agencies, including North Carolina Wildlife, the Tar River Dive Team, law enforcement and firefighters, searched land and water for Drake until 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday night and resumed their search Thursday.

The man was not located as of Thursday afternoon.
