Crash at old general store near Wendell under investigation

Authorities in Wake County are investigating after a car crashed into a historic building near Lake Myra.

The crash happened around 10 a.m. on Poole Road, next to the old Lake Myra General Store outside Wendell.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol said the driver of this black sedan drifted into the other lane, overcorrected, then overturned before crashing into the former gristmill that sits on the Lake Myra property.

The driver was the only person in the car and was uninjured.

A trooper said there were people working to put that building on the historic registry in the next few months.
