Cows known to go for strolls through Fayetteville neighborhood

Some folks in a Fayetteville neighborhood couldn't believe their eyes when they went outside.

A herd of cows have been seen roaming through the James Creek community off Hoke Loop.

It turns out this has happened on more than one occasion.

The fact is they really aren't mysterious cows. The cows have been at a nearby farm for many years, long before the housing development was built behind it.

Evan Vassar was shocked a couple of months ago when he look down the block on Cornfield Avenue and saw a several cows walking up the street in his residential area.

"They had come from out of the woods and ended up coming up the hill," Vassar said. "Which is very odd. It's never happened before. And maybe a month ago, the cows came back ... but there were more."

There were 13 cows to be exact. A security camera caught them walking across a driveway. Evan said he counted them as they came closer, this time into his neighbor's yard.

Kublai Manigult hasn't seen the cows in person, but he's seen plenty of video of them prancing through the neighborhood.

"They've been all over the neighborhood," said Manigult. "They've shown up on Next Door, on people's cameras ... video cameras on the front porch, it's crazy," Manigult said. "They just come out."

The owner of the cows didn't want to be included in WRAL's story, but he said occasionally a storm will come and knock down part of the fence and the cows will get out.

However, no harm, no foul. it's been a moooving story to tell.
