Couple wakes up to find strange dog sleeping with them in their bed

Imagine waking up in your bed in the morning to find out the dog you've been snuggling with isn't yours. That's exactly what happened to one Tennessee couple this week.

Jimmy Johnson said he opened his eyes and didn't recognize the dog sleeping in their bed.

"I rolled over on my side of the bed, and said, 'No, no, no that's not our dog,'" said Julie Johnson.

Julie said the couple already has three dogs -- Jupiter, Hollis and Zeplin. The three usually bark at everything, but she and Jimmy didn't hear a sound overnight when the furry stranger quietly entered their home uninvited.

As the pair checked out the dog, it seemed harmless. They think the dog came in the back door, which was accidentally left open.

The couple shared a photo of the dog on Facebook. The post went viral, and someone recognized the dog, whose name is Nala.

"We got a Facebook message saying, 'Hey, that's my dog, I'll be there in a few minutes,'" Julie said.

She verified Nala was going home with the right owner by asking for family photos as proof.

Julie learned that Nala traveled almost two miles, her adventure ending when she wanted some company.

"As a matter of fact, I was still laying in bed and snuggling with Nala when her mom walked into the room," Jimmy said.

If it wasn't for the Facebook post, dog lovers Julie and Jimmy said they would have had another dog as a part of their family.
