NC State's mask policy changes Monday

Beginning Monday, North Carolina State University will relax its mask policy on campus.

Effective Feb. 28, students and staff will not be required to wear masks unless they are in classrooms or in indoor spaces that require close contact.

Masks will also be required in laboratories, on Wolfline buses and in clinical spaces, including the student health center and the veterinary hospital.

Employees who work in dining or come in contact with food will also continue wearing masks.

Weekly testing will also no longer be required for students who have not been vaccinated. The school continues to recommend COVID-19 vaccines and boosters to reduce spread of the virus.

Free testing is still available on campus with no appointment.

Masks are still required at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where leaders said the guidelines will remain in place until Orange County lifts its mandate.

Duke has not released any updates on its mask policy.

Earlier this month Gov. Roy Cooper urged local schools and cities to lift their mask mandates by March 7.
