Corinth Holders repeats as stunt champion with win over Green Level
Corinth Holders repeated as the Wake County Schools stunt champion on Wednesday night, beating Green Level for the second straight season.
The game came down to the final routine in the fourth quarter, despite the Pirates never trailing in the game. Corinth Holders held off Green Level, claiming a 17-13 win.
Corinth Holders chose routine No. 2 as the last routine. Green Level won the partner stunt in the final routine, but the Pirates took the jumps & tumbles and pyramids & tosses points. Any point in the final routine secured the win for Corinth Holders.
The Pirates won the first two routines in the first quarter, jumping out to a 2-0 lead. The teams tied in the third routine, then Green Level won the fourth routine to pull within 3-2 after one quarter.
The Gators couldn't get any closer though. Corinth Holders won two more routines in the second quarter, while both teams earned a point in the other two routines. Corinth Holders led 7-4 at halftime.
In the third quarter, each team won one routine, then tied in two others. That setup the Pirates with a 10-7 lead going into the fourth quarter where Corinth Holders was able to ice the win.
While this marks the second straight championship for Corinth Holders, it also marks the third straight appearance in the championship for Green Level.
Earlier in the day, Corinth Holders defeated Heritage 15-4 and Green Level defeated Leesville Road 13-9 in the semifinal round.
