Construction worker injured after car crashes into equipment on I-540

An early morning crash on Interstate 540 sent a construction worker to the hospital.

Around 2:45 a.m. on I-540 West near Leesville Road, the Durham Highway Fire Department said a car crashed into construction equipment.

The worker operating the equipment was hurt. WRAL News is working to to learn the extent of the victim's injuries.

The driver stayed on scene.
