Lenoir County officials said the worker, a man, fell from scaffolding while working around 8 a.m. The man was declared dead at the scene. He was working at a church on South Caswell Street.
His name was not provided in a release. The man was 36 years old.
The Lenoir County Sheriff's Office and the medical examiner are investigating the incident.
