Cold, rainy week ahead for Triangle
After the Triangle saw the first freeze of the season, temperatures are expected to remain cold as wet weather moves in.
Temperatures early Sunday morning dropped to 28 degrees and the air will remain chilly as people head to work or school Monday morning, with temperatures in the upper 30s.
"Tomorrow, when you wake up and get out of bed, you may not be seeing the rain just yet, but you'll want to bring your umbrella with you," WRAL meteorologist Kat Campbell said.
Campbell said that rain will move in by lunchtime Monday and will likely stick around through Wednesday. The region could see between 2 and 3 inches of rain before the system moves out.
As wet weather persists, temperatures will remain cold, with highs in the 40s and 50s, and lows in the 30s, for the duration of the week.
“Not only is it going to be a rainy start to the work week but it looks like it’s going to be a cold rain,”Campbell said.
While skies are expected to dry out Wednesday morning, a second wave of rain is forecast for Thursday into Friday.
"It is looking like a soggy week with a good soaking rain ahead," Campbell said.
