City of Raleigh hiring transportation workers this weekend
A job fair held Friday and Saturday is looking for workers interested in the transportation field.
The Raleigh Department of Transportation is hosting a job fair Sept. 16 and Sept. 17 at the Raleigh Central Operations Facility at 2550 Operations Way. The event runs 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.
Hiring managers will be on-site interviewing candidates for the following positions, which service the city's streets, sidewalks and storm drainage systems.
- Maintenance workers
- Equipment operators
- Resurfacing inspectors
- Seasonal leaf collection staff (no experience required)
- Temporary staff
Transportation manager Jason Holmes said some temporary positions are related to seasonal leaf collection, one of the department's busiest times of the year. The starting pay for a temporary position is $18 to $20 an hour.
Some positions are entry-level, while others are considered advanced.
Equipment operators must have a valid driver’s license and a commercial driver’s license or the ability to obtain a commercial driver’s license within 15 days of hire. Non-CDL positions are also available.
Applicants should bring their resume, a list of references and a form of identification.
Applicants can complete applications on-site or online.
