Cirque du Soleil's CRYSTAL to stop at PNC Arena

Cirque du Soleil is returning to the PNC Arena with a brand new show that, for the first time, combines both acrobatics and the circus arts with figure skating.

Cirque du Soleil's Crystal will stop in Raleigh for seven shows - Aug. 15 to Aug. 19. Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m., March 23. They are available to Cirque Club members today.

Here's a description of the show: "In CRYSTAL, gymnasts and skaters perform acrobatics on the ice and in the air, seamlessly combining multiple disciplines for a world-class audience experience. Synchronized skating, freestyles figures, and extreme skating are featured alongside circus disciplines such as swinging trapeze, aerial traps and hand to hand. The result is an adrenaline-packed show for the whole family that pushes the boundaries and surpasses all expectations."

Cirque du Soleil canceled its 2016 performances in North Carolina in protest of House Bill 2, which required people to use the public bathroom that corresponds to the gender listed on their birth certificates, excluded gays and transgender people from protections against employment and public accommodations discrimination and barred cities and counties from extending such protections to them.

Lawmakers partly repealed HB2 last year.
