The N.C. Courage women's soccer team is killing it on the field right now. They are the 2018 National Women's Soccer League Champions and currently ranked No. 1 in the league.

And now local fans can celebrate with the team at a special event in downtown Raleigh on Thursday, April 25. Team members, along with former WRAL anchor Lynda Loveland, will be on hand for a free event that will run 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, at Union Station Plaza, 510 W. Martin St., downtown Raleigh.

There will be an opportunity for fans to interact with players, play games and get autographs. The Pit and Morgan Street Food Hall will offer up food that will be available for purchase, according to a news release.

The event celebrates the team and also the local launch of the Women's International Champions Cup, which will feature the Courage competing against three European teams - Atletico Madrid, Manchester City and Olympique Lyonnais. The event will take place Aug. 15 to Aug. 18 at WakeMed Soccer Park. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, April 26.

There also will be a celebratory sendoff for NC Courage players departing to prepare for the FIFA Women’s World Cup this summer.

“This will be a great event open to all fans as we celebrate women’s soccer and our players who are pursuing their World Cup dreams," said North Carolina Courage President and GM Curt Johnson in a news release.

The N.C. Courage's next home game is 7 p.m., May 4, at WakeMed Soccer Park.
