Best free festivals to enjoy in Durham every year
Durham is host to a wide variety of art, food, music and cultural events. The city always has something to entertain and unite the community.
Here are some of the top festivals in Durham that you won’t want to miss.

1. Taste of Soul
In a unique blend of food and culture, Taste of Soul celebrates a variety of food across cuisines. The festival is topped off with outstanding vendors and entertaining live music. Hosted on five different dates throughout the year, the event also makes sure to represent a variety of foods for people of all tastes and dietary restrictions. There is a day for vegan dishes, seafood, local and outsourced spots, and everything in between.
To add to the entertainment, games and activities are offered for attendees and children. The event is free to the public, though food is also on sale.
2. Bimbé Cultural Arts Festival
In a lively celebration of African and African American history, culture, traditions, and art,
the Bimbé Cultural Arts Festival opens its doors to all of Durham every June.
Everyone can come to enjoy the live performances hosted by Black artists, variety of arts and crafts, discussion of community resources, and excellent traditional food. This family-oriented celebration at Durham’s Rock Quarry Park is one you won’t want to miss.
3. Enofest
The Eno River Association brings together advocacy and community during Enofest, a celebration of the people and places around the Eno River. The association works to protect the natural, cultural, and historic resources of the river, in turn hosting an event to foster such a community.
Celebrated in early July with immersive live performances, demonstrations, workshops, and fun activities for attendees, the event unites people and nature in Durham at West Point on the Eno.
4. Summer Nights at ZincHouse Winery and Brewery
For a stretch of five Friday nights in July, the MAKRS Society had partnered with ZincHouse Winery and Brewery for an exciting night market series, Summer Nights.
Every week, over 35 local vendors, live musical performances, and food trucks come together to celebrate with the community. After 6 p.m., no children are allowed on the ZincHouse property due to the nature of the event surrounding alcohol.
5. Free Yoga at Durham Central Park
In an active and lively joining of the community, Free Yoga is hosted at Durham Central Park for fun summer nights throughout June and July.
Classes are taught in both English and Spanish to widen the net of accessibility and unite all diverse members of the community. This is a great opportunity to meet new people, enjoy the outdoors, and meet your fitness goals.
