A well-known North Carolina dairy farmer is battling for his life at UNC Hospitals.

The family of Randy Lewis said a bull attacked him over the weekend at his farm at 3978 Lewis Road in Snow Camp.

Lewis has owned Ran-Lew Dairy Milk Co. in Snow Camp for generations.

Lewis suffered critical injuries, including broken bones, punctured lungs, and lacerations all over his body, according to his family.

Taylor Hayes, the milk plant operator at Ran-Lew Dairy, set up a GoFundMe page to help with his hospital care and recovery. Donations will also go toward maintaining the farm while Lewis is in the hospital.

"Randy is one of the last dairy farmers in Alamance County, and he has been farming his family’s 5th generation dairy farm his entire life," Hayes wrote on the GoFundMe page. "He’s both my mentor and dear friend."

Within the first day, they raised more than $90,000. As of Wednesday, they have surpassed the fundraiser's goal of $115,000.

The family said Lewis is undergoing medical care and reconstructive surgery in the surgical ICU at UNC Hospitals.
