Authorities rescue driver from flood waters in Apex

Authorities rescued a driver trapped in flood waters Sunday night in Wake County.

Apex police said Richardson Road was closed because of flooding, but a driver decided to go around the barriers and ended up getting stuck in the floodwaters.

The Apex Fire Department deployed a water rescue team and rescued the family in the vehicle.

Police said officers cited the driver for failing to obey law enforcement traffic control measures.

Authorities reported no injuries.

Richardson Road reopened Monday around 4:30 a.m.
