ATF investigating fire at Charlotte private school

A building on the campus of Charlotte Preparatory School was destroyed by a three-alarm fire Monday night.

Charlotte firefighters responded to Boyce Road a little before 11 p.m. Firefighters arrived to heavy smoke and flames coming from the building. It took over 60 firefighters about 90 minutes to get the fire under control. Officials said the fire caused $2.5 million in damage.

WCNC Charlotte confirmed that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is assisting with the investigation.

Officials haven't determined the cause of the fire. Anyone with information is asked to call the Charlotte Fire Department immediately.
