At $22 million, 16,000 square feet, SC home for sale could set records
A $22 million estate with a 16,000-square-foot home is up for sale in South Carolina, and it could set a record when it's sold.
The property has touches that reflect different parts of the world, according to Damian Hall of Blackstream Christie's International Real Estate.
"We have a lamppost from Central Park in New York. We have planters made from materials from the Great Wall of China," he said.
There is a room with giant beams from an old mill in Spartanburg.
"Literally it was made from scratch and hand-built," Hall said.
The property offers the feel of an English countryside retreat. It includes a state-of-the-art equestrian facility with two outdoor arenas, a covered arena and a 12-stall barn.
"You can still escape back to your 54-acre, secluded estate. You can't see any of the neighbors around. It's a rare sanctuary," Hall said.
Inside, the home offers every amenity imaginable.
"There's a movie theater down there," Hall said. "There is an incredible wine cellar that looks like it fell off the pages of Architecture Digest."
The $22 million listing price makes it the most expensive offering in the state of South Carolina.
"To recreate this property right now, would be over $30 million," Hall said, "That's even if you could find the land, so It's a really exceptional property."
In 2021, the Vanderhorst mansion on Kiawah Island sold for $20.5 million.
Developers say they're excited about the future for the property, and say it could become a bed and breakfast for tourism.
