Armed suspect shot by deputy in Orange County

An armed suspect was shot by a deputy in Orange County on Friday afternoon.

The Deputies with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office attempted to serve a felony warrant around 5:58 p.m. in the 1300 block of Carolina Loop.

A man who was the subject of a felony warrant fled the residence and brandished a firearm at a deputy he encountered outside. The deputy fired his weapon, striking the individual.

Emergency Medical Services transported the injured person to a local hospital for treatment.

Currently, his medical status is unknown.

As is standard practice in officer involved shootings, the SBI is conducting the investigation.
