A man and woman have been arrested after a robbery turned into a high-speed chase Thursday afternoon in Hoke County.

At 3:48 p.m., the Hoke County Sheriff’s Office responded to an armed robbery in the 200 Block of Ben Austin Road in Raeford.

The victim, 26-year-old Dominick Wick, described the suspect as a man with dreads in a blue hoodie driving a dark gray Dodge Charger.

Wick sustained a minor injury during the armed robbery and said items were stolen from him. He said the male suspect shot once into his car before taking off.

Deputies located a possible suspect vehicle in the area of the incident. A high-speed chase then ensued.

The chase ended with two suspects being detained without further incident.

DaVontae Grace, 28, and Jalissa Dixon, 25, were taken to the Hoke County Sheriff’s Office and declined to speak with detectives. Grace and Dixon were both charged.

Grace was charged with the following crimes:

  • Robbery with a dangerous weapon
  • Discharging a firearm in an enclosure to incite fear
  • Possession of a firearm by a felon

The North Carolina Highway Patrol also cited Grace for traffic violations.

  • Robbery with a dangerous weapon
  • Felony conspiracy

Grace is being held on a $125,000 secured bond. Dixon is being held on a $75,000.00 secured bond.

The investigation is ongoing.
