Argument in parking lot sparks lockdown at Wayne County middle school

A Wayne County middle school was placed on lockdown Wednesday morning.

A spokesperson said Brogden Middle School was placed on lockdown before school started after two drivers stopped and got into an argument near the school. The lockdown was lifted around 8:30 a.m.

The Wayne County sheriff said there was a road rage incident that occurred Wednesday morning when two vehicles pulled into the church parking lot beside Brogden Middle School.

The sheriff said the first driver felt threatened, so he exited the vehicle and pointed a firearm at the driver of the second vehicle. No shots were fired, according to the sheriff's office.

The sheriff said a school resource officer and another deputy responded to the incident, and both drivers were detained. No charges have been filed at this time, according to the sheriff's office. 

The incident remains under investigation.
