Fewer delays, cancelations reported Monday at RDU

American Airlines is eliminating some routes out of Charlotte Douglas International Airport in response to a lack of demand.

WCNC Charlotte has learned that the airline will stop offering service from Charlotte to three locations. Those locations include:

  • Alexandria International Airport in Rapides Parish, Louisiana
  • Sioux Falls Regional Airport in Sioux Falls, South Dakota
  • El Paso International Airport in El Paso, Texas

The changes are part of the airline's regular network schedule adjustments routinely made due to customer demand.

Many travelers fly from Raleigh Durham International Airport into Charlotte en route to their destination. Charlotte Douglas is considered one of the nation's busiest airports and serves as a hub for American Airlines. On Monday, Charlotte Douglas was experiencing major congestion as hundreds of delays and cancellations were reported.
