A former staff member at a private school in Harnett County was charged Monday with embezzlement.

Tammy Moran, 45, was fired in March as chief financial officer of Cape Fear Christian Academy in Erwin amid allegations that she had sexual encounters with students.

Moran already faced three charges of sexual acts by a substitute parent, and a fourth count also was added Monday.

Authorities said Moran allowed student-athletes from outside the area to stay at her home, near Coats, and took advantage of that arrangement. Investigators said they found digital evidence that she abused at least two students.

The warrant for the embezzlement charge states that Moran used a school-issued credit card for personal purchases.
