ACS Discovery Ball to debut in NC this February

The American Cancer Society announced their inaugural Discovery Ball will take place in North Carolina in February.

The American Cancer Society (ACS), announced their 2023 Discovery Ball, A Journey of Hope, will be coming to North Carolina in February.

The inaugural ball, presented by Martin Marietta, will take place on Feb. 24 at 6:30 p.m., at The Pavilion at Angus Barn in Raleigh.

The event marks the beginning of a three-year commitment by Martin Marietta to the ACS as presenting sponsor of the Discovery Ball.

Matt Winters, chairperson of the Discovery Ball Executive Committee and executive vice president of JLL, was thrilled that Martin Marietta would be presenting sponsor.

"We're humbled that Martin Marietta has chosen to be the presenting sponsor of our North Carolina Discovery Ball," Winters said. "Martin Marietta is known for being a leader in the Raleigh business community, and this partnership demonstrates their commitment to investing in the ACS,"

Ward Nye, chairman and CEO of Martin Marietta, was honored by the ACS choosing the corporation as presenting sponsor.

"The ACS continues to make important contributions in the fight against cancer, especially here in North Carolina," Nye said. "We're proud to offer our support to the ACS as it attacks cancer from every angle."

Cancer survivor, Emmy Award-winning broadcaster, and current director of corporate communications for UNC Health Sharon Delaney McCloud will be the emcee for the event.

Band of Oz, the eastern North Carolina beach music band, will be performing as well.

In addition to Band of Oz, there will be more live entertainment, food and drinks and a live and silient auction.
