A Christmas miracle: Abrigo team collects more than 200 gifts for Toys for Tots after theft in Enfield warehouse
After two-thirds of the Toys for Tots gifts were stolen from the Enfield warehouse just 10 days before Christmas, it seemed like all hope was lost. But just when they thought hundreds of children would be left without presents, a Christmas miracle happened.
Debbie Hamm works in human resources at Abrigo, a software company. When she and her team heard about the theft, they knew they had to do something.
With just days until Christmas, the community lost thousands of dollars' worth of toy donations. But Hamm and her team were determined to save Christmas.
The Abrigo team pulled together, borrowed a truck and helped collect more than 200 toys to replace the ones that were stolen.
"Don’t let anyone steal your JOY. They took the gifts, but Christmas still showed up today!" Hamm said in a Facebook post.
Melissa Battle, the organizer of Halifax County Toys for Tots, was there with her team to unload the hundreds of toys the Abrigo team brought to the warehouse.
"When you need the gift of giving & love it can show up when you least expect it," Hamm said on Facebook. "When you give, you get!! And today gave us all immense JOY!!"
The Grinch tried to steal Christmas, but the Abrigo team helped save it.
