60-year-old man found near Target in Goldsboro

Police have identified a 60-year-old man found dead Jan. 7 near the Target in Goldsboro.

At 10:20 a.m., officers with the Goldsboro Police Department responded to a report of a deceased person in the 1200 block of Sunburst Drive. Officers found a body in a nearby pond, and EMS pronounced the man dead at the scene.

The man was later identified as Phillip Dudley Baldwin, 60, of Goldsboro

The cause of death is unknown at this time, but police said foul play is not expected.

The investigation is ongoing.
