5 on Your Side: Popular Earth Day buys

Every month 5 On Your Side talks about the best products to buy based on Consumer Reports reviews.

For Earth Day, we've got some very green suggestions.

We wanted to look at products that can make you and your home more environmentally friendly.

The best news is they are all under $50.

A compost bin that speeds up the decomposition of food so the nutrient-rich compost is ready for use in your garden earlier. This one from Simple Human has nearly 500 5-star reviews. You can buy it on Target.com for $49.99.

Here's something any TV person or makeup aficionado would get use out of - reusable makeup wipes. I use the other ones all the time, but many are not biodegradable, so try these reusable makeup removing cloths. There are a ton of options out there but the Erase Your Face brand from Amazon has 2,000 5-star reviews.

What about for cleaning up messes?

I don’t know about you but I’m always using a ton of paper towels. For lighter spills and cleanups, you can use reusable paper towels. These ones from Trader Joe's cost $2.99 each.
