Two people were injured when shots were fired Tuesday near the Bojangles on Western Boulevard, shutting both directions of the roadway.

According to the Raleigh Police Department, around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, a man and woman were taken by private vehicle to a WakeMed Urgent Care location after shots were fired in the 3800 block of Western Boulevard.

The man was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and the woman was treated and released.

Sky 5 flew over the scene around 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, where Western Boulevard was closed in both directions near Gorman Street. At least 10 emergency vehicles were at the scene, and crime scene tape was outside the restaurant. Western Boulevard reopened around 3:45 p.m.

Police officers gathered in the adjacent parking lots of Bojangles and McDonald's and at the Dunkin' directly across the street.

A person ordering food at the McDonald's told WRAL News she heard five to six gunshots coming from Bojangles before police swarmed the area.

A WRAL News crew at the scene witnessed two people run across the street from the restaurant.

According to police, shots were fired into a building in the 3800 block of Western Blvd. Crime scene tape was still stretched across Western Boulevard and at the restaurants at 2 p.m.

The largest scene was at the Bojangles, where investigators surrounded a black Honda riddled with bullets. A Chevy Malibu was also seen with bullet holes at Dunkin' on Tuesday night.

Police were also stationed outside the WakeMed Urgent Care at 601 Oberlin Road, where the victims were treated.

North Carolina State University issued a Wolf Alert due to the proximity of the shooting to campus, saying officers were on scene and secured the area.

"A description of the suspect and their direction of travel have not yet been confirmed," the alert reads. "Travelers are encouraged to avoid the area."

Steven Wright lives near where Tuesday's shooting happened.

"[It's] scary stuff to have this so close to where you live," Wright said. "This is a fairly safe area."
