18-year-old man in hospital after being hit by vehicle while riding e-scooter

An 18-year-old man is in the hospital after he was hit by a vehicle while riding an e-scooter late Wednesday night.

WRAL's Rosalia Fodera reports the accident happened on Dan Allen Drive and Western Boulevard in Raleigh, which is in the area of NC State University. When she arrived, the scooter was underneath the vehicle which struck it and the man.

Raleigh police officers told Fodera the scooter rider pulled out in front of the driver of the vehicle from Western Boulevard. The man on the e-scooter was taken to Wake Med with serious injuries but he was expected to recover.

Officers said they don't expect any charges for the driver of the vehicle because the e-scooter rider was at fault.
