14-year-old teenager killed in Sanford shooting identified; 15-year-old charged with murder

Police say a 14-year-old boy was found shot to death on the front porch of a Sanford home over the weekend of July 21.

Family members of Wise Johnson confirmed Sunday evening he was the boy shot and killed in Sanford.

Johnson's family said he was recovering from recent knee surgery when he was shot.

Police arrested a 15-year-old boy in connection to the shooting. He faces a murder charge, and was taken to a juvenile secure custody facility in Cumberland County.

A GoFundMe has been set up by Johnson's mother to help with funeral costs.
