10,000 Fentanyl pills found in Virgin Mary statue during traffic stop in NC

Drugs were found in a Virgin Mary statue during a traffic stop in North Carolina, according to the Gaston County Police.

Gaston County police said they pulled over a car on Monday that committed several traffic violations.

An officer’s K-9 alerted them to the odor of narcotics in the car

During a search, Fentanyl pills were found hidden inside a Virgin Mary statue in the vehicle.

The 10,000 pills weighed about 1 kilogram and had a street value of roughly $330,000.

The driver, Angel Alvarez De Leon, and the passenger, Alfredo Diaz, both of Dallas, Texas, were arrested and charged with multiple counts of trafficking fentanyl.

Each suspect was held on a $1,000,000 secured bond.
