1-year-old resuscitated with Narcan in Lee County

Adults charged after 1-year-old apparently ingests drugs

A 1-year-old was resuscitated with Narcan Wednesday in Lee County.

According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, narcotics agents and patrol division deputies responded to a residence on Forest Avenue in Broadway to assist the Broadway Police Department responding to an unresponsive child.

When agents and deputies arrived at the home, medical personnel from First Health and members of the Cape Fear Fire Department were attempting to save the 1-year-old's life

Narcan (Naloxone) was administered, which resuscitated the child. The child was taken to a local hospital for observation and additional treatment.

Narcotics agents executed a search warrant and found drugs and drug paraphernalia throughout the home.

The mother of the child, Brandy Leona Alvey, 26, along with Michael Alan Crockett, 30, and Brian James Elliot, 28, were all arrested.

Alvey and Crockett were each charged with felony child abuse by neglect and possession of drug paraphernalia, while Elliot was charged with felony possession of schedule II substance (fentanyl) and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Alvey and Crockett are being held on a $50,000 bond and Elliot is being held on a $10,000 bond.
