Store clerk shot during armed robbery in Roxboro, suspect in custody

ROXBORO, N.C. — One person is in custody after a store clerk was shot in an armed robbery Monday night in Roxboro.

The Roxboro Police Department arrested Kamal Damian Edwards, 23, for robbing the Cash Store.

Around 9 p.m., police responded to a reported gunshot wound at Cash Store, which is located at 416 Chub Lake Street. When police arrived, they found the store clerk with a single gunshot wound to the arm. The clerk was taken to the hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.

According to police, this is the second robbery at the same store in the past two days.

The first was an attempted robbery with no shots or property stolen.
