Spring Break travel could cost more this year; apps help travelers save money at the pump

New information released early Friday morning by AAA shows 30% of North Carolinians plan to travel for Spring Break.

This year's trip may cost you more than trips of the past, though. You'll be paying about 5 to 10 cents more for gas this Spring Break compared to last.

The new data shows the average price of gas here in North Carolina is about $3.22 a gallon. Just a month ago, gas prices were under $3 dollars a gallon.

If you’re headed on a Spring Break road trip, it’s smart to figure out where you’ll stop for gas ahead of time.

Even though you’re going to be paying more than you did this time last year, depending on how you plan your route you will be able to save some pennies. Some apps can help you plan your route, including an app by AAA, which allows you to get online and search for the cheapest nearby gas prices.
