Bulls edged at Pawtucket, 3-2, split series

Durham Bulls

(Pawtucket, RI) Josh Labandeira homered to start the sixth inning and ignite a two-run rally, but the Bulls fell short in a 3-2 loss at Pawtucket on Thursday afternoon.

Labandeira's homer, his first, got Durham on the board against righty David Pauley (3-2). Two batters later, Elliott Johnson doubled and he scored on Dan Johnson's two out single, to get Durham within a run at 3-2. Pauley, Chris Smith and Bryan Corey then retired the final 10 batters.

Pawtucket scored all three of its runs in the third against spot starter Mike Prochaska (1-3) on a wild pitch, infield single and bases-loaded walk.

Colter Bean then came on to bail Prochaska out of a fifth inning jam. Bean threw three scoreless innings in his Bulls debut, and Dale Thayer got the final out.

Durham (14-19) split the four-game series against Pawtucket (19-16) to finish a 2-6 road trip.

The Bulls now come home for 10 games, beginning with Syracuse on Friday. Coverage on 99.9 the Fan begins at 6:55.
